Definition of Recount Text

Recount text is a type of text in English that tells a story, action, or activity. Usually, the recount text tells about someone's experience. The purpose of recount text is to entertain the reader, so there is no conflict in this text. In addition, this text also aims to provide information to the reader.

Generic Structure of Recount Text




1. Orientation



Tells about background information about who, where, when events or events occurred.


2. Events




Tells a series of events that occur in chronological order.


3. Re-orientation


It is the conclusion or conclusion of the story. To close a story, we can give our opinion about the story.

  Present Perfect Tense

The form of tense that states the activity that has been started in the past.

Function :

qExperience or events that occur in the past ( no time specifies)

qActivity starts in the past and still continues until now

qStated the achievement ( which has been made or yet not done )

qStates the incident that has occurred several times

Example :

(-) They haven’t tidied their.

• THE FUNCTION OF A SOUND PASSIVE

Passive or passive sentences are used to indicate interest in someone or an object that is subject to an action and not someone or object that is doing the action. So, the most important thing or person will be the subject of the sentence.

Example :

• The passive voice is used frequently. (= kita tertarik dengan kalimat pasif, bukan siapa yang menggunakannya.)
• The house was built in 1654. (= kita tertarik dengan rumahnya, bukan siapa yang membangunnya.)
• The road is being repaired. (= kita tertarik dengan jalannya, bukan siapa yang melakukan perbaikan.)

Passive	Active
A great deal of meaning is conveyed by a few well-chosen words.	A few well-chosen words convey a great deal of meaning.
Our planet is wrapped in a mass of gases.	A mass of gases wrap around our planet.
